Quantitative Diffusion MRI
Advanced diffusion MRI for probing tissue microstructure and cellular dynamics
We develop advanced diffusion MRI methods to noninvasively probe tissue microstructure, cellular organization, and water exchange dynamics. By combining new acquisition strategies (e.g., SPEN Imaging) with biophysical modeling, including time-dependent diffusivity and diffusion kurtosis, our approach moves beyond conventional Gaussian diffusion to capture tissue heterogeneity and membrane permeability. These techniques offer high-resolution, quantitative biomarkers for characterizing cancer biology, improving lesion detection, and assessing treatment response.
